Here we go. First weekly dingoT rankings, then focus on Inter and finally what to watch on the Ides of March:
|2-Barcelona||132.7||2- Real Madrid||133.0|
|5-Chelsea||114.5||5- Man City||113.2|
|8-ParisSG||110.6||8- Paris SG||109.7|
|10-Liverpool||107.2||10- Man United||105.8|
Spain still leads and not by tie-breaker. France sneaks in 2 more teams to the bubble 8 (Lille and Lyon) while Russia loses 2. Spurs and Roma are out of top 16 while Benfica is approaching the lesser English trio who themselves are being separated from the group above. Inter also breaks into top 40 which puts them on the spotlight:
Without doubt this season will be remembered as the year Indonesian tycoon Thohir purchased the club from chain-smoking Moratti. The play on the field has not been impressive even though defense improved a lot under new coach Walter Mazzarri. Looking forward the team has few problems; team does not dominate smaller teams sufficiently therefore draws a lot. By dingo’s calculation ~4.5 pts have been lost unnecessary draws. (I wrote about draws here). Then there is the aging team. There was the big fuss about Guarin-Vucinic trade(Serie A is a bit like NBA) in winter transfer window. Dingo watched this with very wide eyes. Sending Guarin would have been a good deal(look below); perhaps Inter could get more but….
Top 3 dingoR’s (min 10 games)
Rolando who is on loan from Porto(with an option to buy) has been the big difference maker in Inter’s defense this year. Mazzarri prefers a 3-5-1-1 formation for which Rolando is perfect for. His occasional mistakes can be covered by the other 2 while Rolando dominates in the air. It would be a great purchase for Inter considering the fee is rumored to be around $6.5m. Cambiasso is still performing well despite his age but his decline should be expected any day considering he is 33. Icardi is 21 and extremely promising. His problem is injuries and it has been suggested that his “love life” has been preventing his recovery. Inter should be patient and they might have a superstar in their hands.
Bottom 3 dingoRs (min 10 games)
Kovacic is 20 years old so we’ll let him play and improve. Serbian international Kuzmanovic should be in his prime but not playing like that; if there is a good offer he should be sold. That brings us to Guarin. He is talented and tricky but his overall performance has been disappointing. If he has a good world cup he should be sold to the highest bidder without any reservation.
Thanks to GdS Dingo has the salary info for Inter players. So here I list best bang for the euro and the worst:
We talked about Rolando. Palacio’s(114.2) talent is obvious despite his age(31). Nagatomo is 27 and having a career year(122.8)
Well this is not a fair comparison. As contribution is driven by playing time, and some players are signed as subs or for development. Perhaps I can write about optimal salary allocation for players later but let’s keep it simple this time. Zanetti(88.3) is a legend at 40 but he is also expensive for what he does but he can stay.(Dingos are loyal). Milito(107.8 but also 34 years old) on the other hand should be released.
