First good news. dingoR now can rate goalies.

Following is the team by team analysis(alphabetical/first 10 today). Numbers in parenthesis are 1st half dingoRs.

Arsenal: A lot of people got very excited when Mesut Ozil moved to Arsenal.  He has performed well (122.3) but that came at the expense of Cazorla whose playing time and dingoR went down significantly(128.7 to 96.4). So with Ozil basically replacing Cazorla’s output, how do we explain Arsenal’s resurgence this year? Main factor is emergence of Ramsey (150.4) as a superstarGiroud’s rise from being an average striker last year (101.8) to a respectable (112.5) also helpedWith Walcott (122.9) and Podolski back from injuries Arsenal has enough fire power to finish top-2. As far as dingoR is concerned main area of concern is in midfield with Wilshire(100.0) and Rosicky(92.7) not cutting it for a contender side.

Aston Villa: dingoR gave the worst player award to Benteke(81.6) who did not live to the expectations he set up in his debut season(102.8). The star of the team is right back Bacuna(114.7). Getting players form the Dutch League is like a box of chocolates. If we assume Benteke gets out of his sophomore slump soon Aston Villa should be pushing towards the higher end of the mid table as there are no major weaknesses in this squad.

Cardiff: Jordon Mutch is a potential superstar (119.8). Only problem is that he was born on 12/02/1991. Getting Steven Caulker was also a very astute move by Cardiff (109.6). He is only 22 and has few more years to improve, especially for a central defender. Problems? Kévin Théophile-Catherine who is also young(but not promising) is one of them. (72.3). Odemwingie who dingoR never liked is another (86.3). There are enough good players here to avoid relegation, but of course new manager’s imprint is a big unknown.

Chelsea: Ah, where to start. A great midfield quatro  Mikel(123.3),Hazard(122.6),Oscar(118.7), Lampard(118.3) , a decent defense anchored by Terry (118.7) and not much else. Forward line is a mess. Lukaku’s loan and Mata’s absence are not explainable by dingoR or logic. Cech is not having a good year either(86.5). dingoR does not think they are championship material unless they upgrade or start playing 3-7-0.  More on them in #timestamp’ed predictions at the end.

Crystal Palace: Most pundits and oddmakers think they are going down. dingoR is not so sure. Of the 14 players who played more than 10 games 8 of them are above average led by Jedinak(108.3) and Gabbidon(108.7). Bolasie(57.1) is the lowest rated player in EPL. Another midfielder Dikgacoi(79.8) should be avoided as well. Getting a couple of midfielders(even average) in the transfer window should be Pulis’s  priority.More on them at the end as well.

Everton: What a great story. Getting Lukaku(122.7), Barry(120.2) and Deulofeu(115.7) on loan were brilliant. Coleman is the best wing back in EPL this year(139.5). For some reason people love to talk a lot more about Baines(110.2) who is also decent, but just that. Howard(124.8) gives the US National team a lot of hope for the summer. So what gives? Not much really. Everyone’s favorite wunderkind Barkley(94.1) and Pineaar(95.4) are the lowest rated players and they are not that bad. Will be interesting to see if Martinez really found a way to get more out of his players or these players will gravitate back to normal.

Fulham: Not a very wisely constructed squad. Too many wasteful attack minded players such as Taarabt(61.7),Kasami(84.7) and Ruiz(91.2) dragging usually serviceable Berbatov(100.1 last year to 87.3) down with them. Sidwell(107.5) and Scott Parker(100.7)are  holding the midfield together so far. With Stekelenburg(80.8) a major bust, a busy transfer window or a stressful second half awaits them.

Hull: Not a bad start for minnows.  A few bright spots in Elmohamady(111.8), Brady(108.3) and Davies(109.4). And a couple rotten apples in Rosenior(83.8) and Figureoa(85.8-who does he bribe to stay  in EPL?) A lot of mediocre players in between these two sets. Should avoid relegation rather easily.

Liverpool: The man and the myth, Suarez(155.1) is a team by himself. It was unfortunate that both Sturridge (125.1) and Gerrard(120.1) have been injured recently. Mignolet(109.3) has been a huge improvement over Reina(86.9). Glenn Johnson(82.3) is wasteful as ever but the real question is if Luis can keep this performance up? If yes, even a top 2 finish is a possibility.

Man City: Everyone’s and dingoR’s favorite to win the trophy at the end of the year. Yes, some of their results(7-0,6-0) make their numbers look better than their point total but the quantity of star players is undeniable. They have 5 over 130; Kompany(140.0), Yaya(136.3),Navas(136.1), Aguero(133.8) and Silva (132.0). They also have another 5 over 110. Only problem? You guessed it right, Hart(88.6). One good goalie and I am ready to crown them champions. Too soon? OK, I’ll wait.

#Timestamp’ed Predictions: Our only outstanding prediction WBA to be relegated is at 9%, having gone in at 4%. Our next set of predictions uses expected points for the remainder of the season. Crystal Palace is offered at 15 points for the last 18 games(spread market) so we would like to predict that CP will do better. Chelsea is bid at 35.5 points and we  think that is too high.  The risk with Chelsea is that they buy a decent striker but we think(or hope) that is unlikely.
